Women in Construction

APPLY NOW $1,000 gRANT & Mentorship

The Women in Construction grants are offered to female apprentices in the construction skilled trades. Successful recipients receive $1,000 through the BOLT Charitable Foundation, and are connected to a female mentor from their own or similar trade through OBCT Trades Women to help provide additional career advice and support.

Anyone who meets the eligibility criteria can apply for the scholarship at any time. Multiple scholarships are awarded throughout the year and can be applied to the cost of workwear, tools, in-class training, or living costs.

Application Timeline
• January 1 to March 31 (successful recipients are awarded in April)
• April 1 to June 30 (successful recipients are awarded in July)
• July 1 to Sept 30 (successful recipients are awarded in October)
• Oct 1 to Dec 31 (successful recipients are awarded in January)

We review all applications and determine the strongest candidates based on the information provided.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Identify as female, 17-29 years old
  • Registered apprentice in a construction trade
  • Living in the Greater Toronto Area
  • Demonstrate a Financial Need
  • Passionate about a career in construction

BOLT hosts a special International Women’s Day SpeakOut SpeakOut in March with an all-female industry panel of professionals to profile the incredible women who build our homes and communities and inspire the new generation to think beyond ‘traditional’ gender roles. The informative and engaging session highlights the different career paths in the construction industry, provides valuable information about the educational and training requirements, and shares advice on how youth can get started.
