“Every year we look forward to hosting you at our Annual Golf Tournament, but this year’s gathering for the first time in so many months, feels even more special.
Throughout the pandemic, living through a time of so much uncertainty, BOLT continued to create opportunity for youth who needed it the most. This work could not have been done without you.
On behalf of the BOLT Foundation, we would like to thank you for your continued financial support, commitment to our mandate, and training and employment opportunities that help change the lives of youth and push our industry forward.
We hope you enjoy your day and have a great round for a great cause!”

Your Impact
The Tridel Corporation covers administrative costs associated with the BOLT Foundation, including salaries and office space, which means that 100% of funds raised go to directly supporting BOLT scholarships, skilled training and career exploration programs.
Read just a few of our #BuildingIndustryTalent alumni stories below to see how your generous support has created a positive impact in the lives of youth.

Meet Nelson Gally – the first graduate of our expanded Job Shadowing program. Nelson completed his training LiUNA! Local 183 and is working with Limen’s Group Construction as a Rodman.
“My life before BOLT was really challenging. I lost my job due to the COVID-19 pandemic and life became tough because I was dependent on unemployment. I was always passionate about the forming trades and construction and had expressed my interest to The Neighbourhood Organization so they referred me to the BOLT Foundation. The team at BOLT was so helpful! They got me my safety training and enrolled me in the Job Shadowing program on Tridel’s The Well site. It was there I discovered my passion for Rodman work. Now I am working full-time with Limen. My life has completely changed in the span of 3 months and I cannot thank BOLT enough.”

Meet Maria Pavlou – a #BOLTFinancialAwards recipient. Maria graduated Architectural Technology George Brown College in 2013 and has been working with Moriyama & Teshima Architects for the past 6 years. Maria just wrapped up her work on the Arbour, George Brown’s new Health Sciences Campus on the Waterfront, just across Tridel’s Aquabella and Waterfront Community. The Arbour will be Ontario’s first mass-timber, low-carbon institutional building!
“As a mature student returning to college for the first time in over a decade, I found it intimidating applying to college again after so many years. The challenge for me at that time was – where do I start and what do I take? I chose the Architectural Technology program at George Brown College, on a limb, and felt lucky that I found something I enjoy. BOLT’s support was very beneficial for me. Since many students struggle to work while studying at school, the assistance from BOLT was uplifting and I am still grateful after all these years. I have always been interested in construction and how buildings come together. As an Architectural Technologist who primarily works on construction drawings, I usually have my hands in all aspects of the building. The concept of starting with a hole in the ground and watching my team’s work come to life is extremely rewarding.
You need to be a hard worker, and you definitely need to be a team player in this industry – it is a must. You need to be versatile and change day to day if you need to and you need to put in the work.”

Meet Michael Saltat, who participated in BOLT’s Day of Discovery and Job Shadowing programs in 2019. Michael is a Ryerson University Civil Engineer graduate. He started as a Site Coordinator with Deltera in September 2020.
“BOLT’s programs allowed me to experience the realities of working on a construction site and gave me a chance to realize and prove my potential. One of the main challenges I had faced was finding a company willing to take a chance on me. My life has drastically improved as a result of participating in the program. Through BOLT, I had grown my network within Tridel which was crucial for me to have been extended a job offer.”

Meet Aidan Rankie – a #BOLTFinancialAward recipient. Aidan graduated as an HVAC Technician from Humber College and has been working with Local 285 Sheet Metal Workers and CoolTech ever since.
“I was very lucky and fortunate to receive the BOLT Financial Award and attend a Humber College awards ceremony. When I was a boy I had Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia. During the treatment and possible other factors I had developed learning disabilities and some fine motor skills deficiencies so I found school very hard to succeed in. I would always have to work twice if not three times harder than the rest of my peers to understand or complete a project or study for a test. I took reduced course loads, summer school, went to 3rd party learning centers for more practice and often my parents would spend many hours working with me. School was always hard for me and very rarely fun for me. I would always feel that I am trying to catch up to my peers, but I never gave up. My dream was to be successful in a career that I liked and to afford to live on my own without assistance from my family, to not feel like a burden but valuable to society.
I had two part-time jobs while I was at college and I was able to hold on for a while but it started to become too much to handle mentally and physically. I felt exhausted all the time and the final straw was when colleges went on strike. Once I returned to school with more than 5 times the amount of homework and eager to finish my last year, I knew something in my schedule had to give so I quit both jobs to focus on school. I lost a lot of motivation to keep going because at that time I felt the deck was very much stacked against me and I felt set up to fail. BOLT stepped in, out of nowhere it seemed for me. I worked very hard in school and I finished my program with a 92 average, (not bad for someone like me) and I guess that grabbed someone’s attention in an office somewhere and nominated me, which changed my life.”
